Workshop

workshop Carraro ChabarikOur workshops are located in the centre of Udine and in Spilimbergo; this is an important territory for the history of mosaics: the prestigious Scuola Mosaicisti (Friuli Venezia Giulia’s Mosaic School) – the school where we trained – is based in Spilimbergo. The name of our activity, which was established in 2006 as Arab Mosaico, has become Carraro Chabarik at the beginning of 2016.

We create works of artistic research and commissioned works, engaging in dialogue with our customers. We realize designer collections and a line of jewels, furnishing items and architectural projects.

Our mosaics are handcrafted with particular techniques, tools and materials.

About us

mohamed chabarik and laura carraro, artists graduated at Spilimbergo mosaic schoolMohamed Chabarik

I was born in Aleppo, in Syria, in 1978. I have always expressed myself by drawing, I love working with my hands, searching for technical and material solutions. Discovering mosaic art has been a way of combining all this, a way of telling about the world.

Laura Carraro

I was born in the province of Venice in 1984. After a Bachelor of Arts from Università Ca’ Foscari in Venice, I discovered the world of mosaics, congenial with my way of beingI think that the concept of mosaic can also be used in experimental – both artistic and cultural – contexts.

Collaborations

craftsmanship workshop Carraro Chabarik in Spilimbergo tradition

Our idea of a mosaic is a combination of materials and hands, which shape these materials.

Our staff is made up of communication professionals, photographers and other professional mosaicists who graduated at Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli (Friuli’s Mosaic School).  It is stable the collaboration with the mosaic artist Eleonora Zannier, who develops with us some of the collections, as well as help us to complete the works on commission.

We collaborate with artists, artisans and firms of various sectors as well (Valcucine, Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, Alessandro Pasquali, Daniela Isola).

Some of our collections can be found in other shops.
