Mohamed Chabarik

mohamed chabarik mosaic artist from Spilimbergo school friuliI was born in Aleppo, in Syria, in 1978. After an artistic path, which in Syria had led me to experiment various techniques (calligraphy, glass decoration, textile production), I arrived at Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli (Friuli’s Mosaic School). I have always expressed myself by drawing, I love working with my hands, searching for technical and material solutions. Discovering mosaic art has been a way of combining all this, a way of telling about the world.

I graduated as a mosaic master in 2005 and some months later I founded Arab Mosaico. In 2010 I started collaborating with my wife Laura Carraro and in 2016, on the first ten years of activity, we decided to change the workshop’s name from Arab Mosaico to Carraro Chabarik mosaico contemporaneo.

Laura Carraro

laura carraro mosaic artist from Spilimbergo school, Friuli

I was born in the province of Venice in 1984. After a Bachelor of Arts from Università Ca’ Foscari in Venice, with a thesis on Contemporary Art, I discovered the world of mosaics, congenial with my way of being, and Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli (Friuli’s Mosaic School), which I attended graduating as a mosaic master in 2010.

Shortly afterwards I started working as a freelancer and collaborating with my husband in the Arab Mosaico project, which in 2016 has become Carraro Chabarik.

I think that the concept of mosaic can also be used in experimental – both artistic and cultural – contexts. The crucial stages of my artistic path are collected on the website www.lauracarraro.it
