About us
Our idea of mosaic is made of intersections of materials and hands. And this is also reflected in our history.
The laboratory was born in 2006 from a project by Mohamed Chabarik and then, since 2010, has become an expression of the human and professional union with Laura Carraro.
The intersection between the aesthetics of their cultures, Arab and Venetian, and their visions of art and the world, they shape the stylistic direction of the laboratory.
But it wouldn't be the same without the contribution of the many experiences gained with professionals from other sectors and other mosaicists. Over the years, mosaicists Eleonora Zannier, Ilaria Nonino, Serena Leonarduzzi and Linda Vincentelli have joined the staff as permanent collaborators, helping to outline and innovate the artistic production with their own sensitivity and talents. Lucia Daneluzzi joined the group in 2024 and takes care of the secretariat and customer relations, offering support in back-office, sales and communication activities.
The workshops, both laboratory and shop, are located in the historic centers of Udine and Spilimbergo. We are in an important territory for the history of mosaics: in Friuli Venezia Giulia, right in Spilimbergo, there is the prestigious Friuli Mosaic School, where we all trained.
Mohamed Chabarik
I was born in Aleppo, Syria. Already during my education I had the opportunity to touch different artisan techniques, which I like to mix with mosaic. I can't help but experiment! Sustainability and recycling are my mission.
Laura Carraro
Born near Venice, I come from studies in literature and art history. In my works I love asymmetry and attention to detail. I believe in mosaic as an experimental art, both artistically and culturally.
Eleonora Zannier
Of Italian-French origin, the art of mosaic is part of my history, starting from that of my great-grandfather, a mosaicist from Friuli who emigrated to France. My works are interpretations of the textures and colors of nature, which I observe, study and photograph.
Ilaria Nonino
I studied at the art high school in Udine, where I studied jewelry in depth, and then I moved on to mosaic. Knowing how to do something with your own hands and being able to do it with any material is what satisfies me most about mosaic. I like working with tiny tiles!
Serena Leonarduzzi
After years of deep dedication to teaching mosaic, I decided to use my love for this art in sharing new projects with this group. My work is always driven by a passion for light and color, in their particular application in mosaic.
Linda Vincentelli
I was born in Trieste, and after studying at the art institute of my city, I arrived at the mosaic school, starting to understand the infinite expressive possibilities of a tile, which I continue to investigate. I discovered that the color blue, in mosaic, particularly inspires me.
Lucia Daneluzzi
I have a degree in sociology and I have worked for years in human resources. I have lived in Spilimbergo since I was six years old, so I grew up surrounded by mosaics, which I have always loved. At Carraro Chabarik I deal with the many things that revolve around mosaics, from a management and communication point of view.
